Overview #
Your website sends transactional email, which includes registration emails, password reset emails, order receipts, and so forth. In order to send transactional email, it has to be connected to an Email Service Provider (ESP), which is a service whose sole purpose is to facilitate fast and reliable email delivery.
ESPs require certain profile information in order to comply with various international laws and regulations governing privacy and spam. This information is mandatory for legal and regulatory compliance.
When we start setting things up, we’ll ask you to send us this profile info so that we can properly connect your website to the ESP. This profile info is considered public information and will appear on the footer of all the emails sent by your website, in addition to an unsubscribe link. If you use the same ESP to also send marketing email, the profile info will appear on those footers as well.
Profile Info #
The profile info requested by the ESPs typically includes the following:
- First Name and Last Name – mandatory
- Full Mailing Address – mandatory
- Phone Number – optional
- Company Name – optional
- Company Logo (an image or a URL) – optional
- Website – optional
- Tax/VAT Number – optional
Note that only the name and mailing address are mandatory but many businesses add additional info, which gives your emails a more professional look, helps your leads and customers reach you, and engenders trust.
As an example, Elastic Email, the default ESP we set up for new websites, requires us to fill this form. Other ESPs have similar requirements.
How to Send Us the Profile Info #
As this is considered public information, you can usually send it to us by email or livechat. However, you can also send it to us securely, if you prefer, using one of our secure channels.
